    Getting Here By Road

ROAD ACCESS:  Find us on Tracks for Africa.

The Self Drive Traveler - The remoteness of Lake Tanganyika has ensured that it has remained completely unspoilt by the passage of hundreds of tourists.  This is its charm.  For the adventure traveler, the Lake is an ideal destination where you will be able to use all your latest 4x4 toys and gadgets.

    Getting Here By Water

The MV LIEMBA, a former German war ship, is now the ferry on Lake Tanganyika and travels up and down the Lake every second week.  Not only does she form the lifeline of the Lake, but she is a wonderful part of history and is the only active ferry of her class, still in active service.  She has recently been given a facelift and she offers adventurers an inexpensive method of access to the entire lake.

    Getting Here By Air

AIR ACCESS:  This is the quickest and most direct way to get to Lake Tanganyika.  LAKE SHORE LODGE is only 5 minutes drive away from the Kipili Airstrip GPS Co-Ordinates S07.26.056 E030.35.448.

What a peaceful haven after the long, dusty road from Cape Town.  It's amazing how Lake Shore Lodge absorbed 30+ guests and we still felt like we had complete privacy!

Waking up in the mornings, we wondered if we were in an aviary with all the birdsong and beautiful feathered friends around us.

We hope to be lucky enough to find ourselves back here in the future!

    Thanks for everything.
